Meet Lou

Lou Verga, registered practitioner at Slow City

Lou Verga is an Ahpra-registered practitioner of acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, and a member of AACMA.

Lou is a careful listener and a welcoming, empathetic practitioner. He offers precise and holistic treatments closely aligned with the individual. He practices Classical Chinese Medicine, informed by the roots of Chinese medical and natural philosophy, and is devoted to ongoing research in both Chinese Medicine and the latest biomedical evidence.

His way of practicing encourages curiosity into the various and sometimes unexpected aspects of health imbalances. In keeping with that philosophy, Lou sees humans as part of a broader process involving other living beings, ancestors, the environment and cosmology — and engages in it with compassion and kindness.

Lou is a dedicated partner and dad. He is also a reader, writer and translator of poetry and fiction.

About Slow City

‘màn zǒu’ 慢走 — go slowly, or walk slowly. A common Chinese departure greeting.

It might loosely equate to something like ‘take it easy’ or ‘look after yourself’. Going slowly helps us take our time, and to follow our unique paths with steadiness. Our symbol is the turtle, which reminds us of patience, calmness, consistency and longevity.

Slow City is a peaceful refuge where you can pause, breathe and be directionless for a while — allowing your body-mind some space for healing.

We acknowledge that we live and work on unceded lands of the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people of the Kulin Nation, paying respect to elders past, present and emerging, and the advanced healing practices that have been occurring on this country for millennia.
